Moving day as I left the hostel and the first day on my job. It didn’t notice the notice of the names of the nightclubs before. The Tool Shed and the Probe. Even the pharmacy gay is they sell gay porno. Food mainly consists of coffee shops and vegetarian only restaurants. I have never seen anything like this before. They have taken over the whole neighbourhood. I have to walk 10 minutes away to find straight people.

At least work is going well. I am meeting my quota and they are laid back here. I can use the Internet for free and they even provide us with food in the kitchen.

The best part of my job is I get to take train across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and say the Opera house twice a day. It’s warm here but the wind is brutal. I came down with my second cold.

Still sick didn’t do much. But how to I get around Sydney. The streets aren’t numbered like in Edmonton so I look at the map and see where it is located from the Sydney Tower and just look in the sky to find if I should be north, south, west, or east of the Sydney tower.

I went to work and got something for my sore throat. They British are really close. It was hard to make friends with them. The Americans were more warm then them. But the Irish are the best. They drink all day. There is an Irish bar where I saw guys drinking beer at 9 am. The only people that have confused me with being American are the Americans. Everybody tells that they heard if Canadians are called Americans they get deeply offended.

The best example of being confused with an American is this one. But an American hears me talking and asks what state I am from. Everybody else is burn. I said I am Canadian. She asks me what part I am from. I said I am from Edmonton. "Where's that" It's in Alberta. "Where's that". "East of British Colombia" no response. "East of Vancouver." Shrugs. It's in western Canada. Oh.

The Americans are clueless for geography. One of them asked the Irish what part of Europe Ireland was in.

Okay moving into the gay neighbourhood is the worst decision I ever made. I can't go to any bars and have to walk 10 minutes away. I planned to go to the bar Saturday night but Sydney got one of its worst hail storms yet. It was so bad that they had to cancel incoming flights to Sydney.

Sunday September 4, 2004

I went shopping to the markets in Chinatown. They got cheap fruits and vegtables and are also a great place to find cheap souveniors.
