They play Natalie Imbruligia's song "Torn" everywhere. It is more than 5 years old but you just have to walk 10 minutes away and here the song playing yet again at another store. There must be a radio station that has that song on continuous repeat.

The train system is ridiculous. It costs at least $4 to ride the train and my $22 weekly pass only covers me between two stops and if I want to go somewhere I have to pay for another ticket. The trains are always late and the train workers aren't in too much of a rush. It was rush hour and they decided to clean up the train for about 20 minutes. They kept are train late and held up the trains behind us.

The gold metal of hockey final starting at 10 am Sydney time. I booked the day off and found a bar showing the game but everything didn't go as planned. The bar wasn't the game and he said 50 people came that morning because some of the waitstaff said they would be showing the final. Not the best businessman. But then I got a call from work telling me to come in. It was the first time I ever got called by my boss to come to work. He said it was 9:20 am and I was running late. I later learned that he called me after one of the girls said I was watching the hockey game.

I am doing a great job at work as far as getting surveys. But there was other guy who had better results than me. He was East Indian and he would actually beg for surveys. When he called people up he made them feel guilty by saying I called earlier and you weren't there instead of just saying I missed you. He also begs people sometimes by saying if they don't do the survey he will lose his job. The funniest part is we are on commission and there is no threat of being fired.

I went to an irish bar for a beer and steak. Similar to the deal back home but you have to by a beer and then you get the steak for $5.

I went to the Hype Park Barracks musuem and was dissapointed. Crinimals found this country and there was only a few interesting exhibits. Why did they need an exhibt of rats who were ancestors of the rats that lived with the original inhabitants. Also I bought an Aussie outback hat.

The media is really riling John Howard. After the election was called he had a slight lead because he was using scare tactics on the voters. He was saying the labour government would bringer higher inflation and destroy the Australian economy. But after the debate labour has a comfortable 5% lead and now smiling John Howard is announcing spending promises with money that wasn't there two weeks ago. Their was this clip where he was saying hello, hello, hello and the media just ripped up having their phone ringing and saying the prime minister couldn't hear them.

Work results are really bad and we were told that if our stats didn't approve some us would be fired. Most of the day was spent talking about how they were going to fire everybody. I thought they would do it in the morning by not coming downstairs to let us in and then our boss would come downstairs around lunch and say didn't you get the message.

Tuesday September 21, 2004

We were suppossed to have free pizza at work. But instead he sent most of the people home who had poor results and they were scheduled to come back Thursday. (right) I knew none of them would come back.

Wednesday September 22, 2004

Work is all empty and creepy. With the removal of all the people I had to work 8am- 5:30 pm with only one half hour break and 2 15 min breaks. Even those were cut short because they asked me to come back to work.

The girl from Toronto was wondering where was everybody. I said I wasn't joking they are gone. But an hour later they came back to work on a different project. So I was wrong.

I got my DVD player finally. Now I can watch Aussie movies. I spent most of Friday looking for a new place to live. There was one place where it costs $130 a week to share a room with 2 other people. But the kicker was a $900 deposit for a 4 week stay.

I went to the Taronga zoo. It set me back $30. But it included a ferry ride and a gondola ride to the top. It had a ton of animals including some weird yellow-black striped creature called a Bango. I even crawled over some the fences and got some pictures with kangeroos and a giant pecking bird. Saturday night I bumped into the girl from Toronto. We went to get a cheesburger and a meatpie. Both places she was complaining they weren't hot enought. They were hot but they weren't smokin' hot. Nothing was good enough for her. I was embarrassed to be with her it was like being with an american.

Sunday September 26, 2004

My room search is over. I give up. Most places want a 3 month committment. I only plan on being in Sydney for another 4 weeks and probably will stay put.
