Hudson Bay under a hostile takeover
No other company played a bigger role in founding Canada. Now it could be American. A US investor made a $1 Billion bid for a hostile takeover and chances are slim a Canadian could keep HBC Canadian.
It could go the way of Eaton's, CN, or Tim Horton's. He could be American or be run out of business and sold for parts. Canada's foreign investment laws are weak and we are turning into a branch plant economy where all the head offices are south of the border and we are just loyal Canadian workers working for our American bosses. How many companies will be American owned before our politicans realize we are losing control of our country.
Hudson's Bay is not just a company it is a national icon. Its traders explored our west and gave Europeans economic reasons to come to Canada. It's blankets are pictured throughout our history and it once owned half of the country. It must remain Canadian.
