How Many Canadians Have to Die Before Harper Stops Supporting Israel?

"I certainly doubt that to be the case, given that the government of Israel has been co-operating with us in our evacuation efforts, in our efforts to move Canadian citizens out of Lebanon and also trying to keep our own troops that are on the ground involved in the evacuation our of harm's way," he said.

"We want to find out why this United Nations post was attacked and also why it remained manned during what is now, more or less, a war during obvious danger to these individuals." Prime Minister Stephen Harper
The day after a Canadian soldier died PM Stephen Harper cowardly refused to withdrawl his support after Israel intentionally killed a Canadian peacekeeper. He refused to question the motives of another country who killed a fellow Canadian and when the Canadian comes home the media will likely be banned and flags will not be lowered.

When will the right-wing end its insane ideology that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". Isreal should not be immune to war crimes and be questioned for its actions.

This was no tragic accident.

The U.N. observers killed when an Israeli bomb hit their bunker in Lebanon Tuesday called an Israeli military liaison about 10 times in the six hours before they died to warn that aerial attacks were getting close to their position, a U.N. officer said

Why is Canada continue supporting a rogue state that repeatly violates international law, wages war on its neighbours, and responds to critiques from the UN by killing 4 UN Observers.
If this was any other middle east country, Harper would eagerly support any mission to invade that country.

Why is Harper supporting the Israeli invasion to attack Lebanon because 2 of their soldiers were missing and yet he doesn't flinch when one Canadian soldier dies along with 7 other Canadians last week.

Put a fork in Stephen Harper, he is done.

FOX News still is a proud supporter of Israel

I thought I would copy this portion of FOX News's website before they change it. FOX News is trying to soften the blow to Israel by adding the israeli and lebanese death toll as one, and then saying both sides have been hurt.

Is Israel Immune from any wrong?

Israel's recent attacks against Lebanon and Syria show once again why the west's double standards towards Middle Eastern countries. If anyone wondered why Arab countries hate us and accuse us of having double standards, they need to just watch the events over the past few days. (That is assuming your not getting your information solely from Martin Himmel-Global's official cheerleader for Israel)

If Iran attacked Israel over two missing soldiers the US and all western countries would accuse Iran of state-terrorism. But when "Israeli's Defense Force" attacks it's called fighting terrorism.

The G8 appeared divided over Israel's incursion. But with opposition from Russia and France. But with over 100 dead civilians including 7 dead Canadians, there is now way leaders like Stephen Harper can applaud what Israel has just done. Today there was another 8 Israelis killed and Israel promised to step up their military effort. This is coming hours after they just killed over 100 civilians. What are they going to do next? A bigger attack against Lebanese cities or a land-based invasion? At least the G8 changed its stance and jointly wrote that Israel should seize its invasion.

If Israel doesn't listen to the G8, their immunity myth could be over. The myth that Israel is the only pure country in the Middle East surrounded by non-democratic vultures could come to an end. Israel's constant feeling on insecurity and compulsion to retaliate 10-fold for any deaths has put the whole world at risk. Israeli's actions have been used as an excuse to start international terrorist groups to attack the west. They have smeared democratic hopes in the Middle East and forced Arabic countries to rely on groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah to survive. The faster the west puts Israel on equal footing- the faster Islamic extremism will subside.

Soccer Needs to Modernize

Soccer has turned into an ugly game and with 21st century technology everybody can see it. During this world cup it looks like the team that has the better divers advances and teams that play clean games lose. Zidane's head-butt was another sore eye for soccer. There is no instant replay in soccer and if none of the officials saw it, Zidane would have kicked in the shootout.

Soccer needs to allow instant replay and at least allow suspensions being based on instant replay. If soccer wants to seriously take diving out of them game- they need to start suspending the divers. The global audience can watch the game on tv, the internet, and on mobile phones. Right now everybody has access to the game except the people who are officiating the game.

Shooting the Messenger

Before the rise of the internet which has spawned a new alternative medium no politician would intentionally start a war with the press. But in Canada and the US both leaders are throwing mud at the press and trying to score political points.

In the US, Bush/FOX News have specifically attacked the New York Times for reporting that the goverment is seizing terrorist attacks. Keith Oberman points out the hypocrisy by showing earlier statements by Bush where he states the government is seizing terrorist financial assets and this "secret" government agency published a newsletter.

In Canada, Harper is filtering the national media's questions. Then when the national media tried to fight back, he went around them and is now fielding most of his questions from local media outlets whose reporters are star struck by being allowed to talk to the pm. He hopes the public doesn't care and sees it as a squabble between two professions that people don't trust. Sort of like an ambulance chaser lawyer fighting with a mechanic.

But this anti-media debate has created major problems for a society. The mainstream media isn't perfect and it makes mistakes. But at least it tries to be balanced. The internet has allowed more people to access more information but alot of the information is inaccurate and biased. In the US the public is split between two media sources. The progressive media led by Michael Moore and the conservative media led by FOX News.

I hope Canada's media isn't split by ideological lines. Canada's media isn't in dire straits- yet. It hasn't reached a point where you know one media source is so overtly biased that it will ignore damaging stories to its favoured party and attempt to fabricate or report fabricated stories.
