Why isn't Canada marketed as an adventure travel hotspot?

The World's Best New Adventure Travel Trips

In a recent article by National Geographic, 3 out of 25 adventure trips were in Canada. Canada's tourist bureaucrats have finally discovered the fact that the best marketing strategy is to turn a product into a verb. (to Zerox, to Google) Now Canadian tourism officals have been trying to rebrand Canada as a place where tourists can do things rather than a just a country where people can watch moose cross the road. Edmonton Eskimos 34-Year Streak Comes to an end

For the first time in over a third of a century the Edmonton Eskimos will not compete for the Grey Cup in the playoffs. In Edmonton, it has always been assumed that the Eskimos would always make the playoffs because in the CFL the Eskimos are the CFL's most successful franchise. No other city in Canada has a greater interest in the CFL and the Eskimos continuously win making Edmonton an attractive to city to play for players who want to win too. It's a disgrace the a team that just won the Grey Cup last year, has consistently had the league's highest attendance, and has the best quarterback will be finishing last in their division.

Heads must roll starting with the coaching staff. How does a championship team completely fall apart after winning the Grey Cup in the previous year. The Edmonton Eskimos had the league's top passer (Ricky Ray) who had a 500+ yard lead over Anthony Cavillo. The quarterback's success often parallels the team success. If a quarterback puts up good numbers it means the team is scoring, has a great passing game, and a good offensive line too. But despite having a top notch quarterback the Eskimos had other major holes (defense and rushing) that coaching staff ignored and didn't make any drastic changes to fix it.

But there were warning seasons before this season that the Eskimos were not flawless. They did win the Grey Cup last year but only after squeaking into the playoffs. Last season's woes were similar to this year's problems. They had a disastrous rushing game and weak defense last year too. The Eskimos can only blame themselves for missing the playoffs. They became complacent and didn't attempt to improve their defense. Edmonton hopes the Eskimos woes aren't a foreshadowing of what could happen to the Oilers too.
