Joe's 2006 After Debate Prediction
Conservative
Party - 130
Seats
The Tories have to just sit around and watch the poll numbers rise as
the Grits keep shooting themselves in the foot. They have run a decent
campaign so far with few bumps on the road. The only big one now is the
B.C. candidate accused of bringing "a few" bottles of booze over the
border. He was in a close riding and this my push the NDP to win that
seat, therefore Harper won't need to worry about it after the election.
I still do not think that they will get a majority.
Liberal
Party of Canada - 86 Seats
What can I say...Paul is putting himself in the same company as John
Turner and Kim Campbell. I could write pages on how he and his team
have messed up, from the beer and popcorn, to the attack ads, to the
notwithstanding clause. The more interesting story after will be the
Liberal leadership, there has to be at let 8 to 10 people very
interested in that job, many of them high profile.
New
Democratic Party of Canada - 31 Seats
Well they should pick up a few seats here and there across the country,
but they can't seem to make that breakthrough. I think that English
debate moderator said it best to Layton - you haven't said yet what you
want to be Prime Minister, and Layton couldn't really respond to it.
Bloc
Quebecois - 61 seats
Not much to say about them, they don't have too much work to do except
in the ridings they want to steal. The rise of the Tories is a both
good and bad for them, since they can split the vote in some ridings,
but in others the federalist vote may push the Tories to winning seats
instead of the Bloc.
Green
Party -
0 seats
They just do not have enough votes in specific ridings to win a seat. I
guess they can hope for PR to come in and then they will be able to
take some seats.
